When It Gets Dark Earlier
Scents, scenes and seasons have a way of triggering memories.
A recurring recollection of my youth was a late November afternoon that caught me off guard when it suddenly grew dark. I was going door-to-door selling Boy Scout candy and didn’t want to stop because I was on a roll. But the long walk home in the darkness spooked me for some reason. Decades later, the vividness of this memory momentarily haunts me when I’m walking through some swirling leaves around dusk.
But autumn's darkness went further than this singular thought. There had been a few key losses that occurred in the fall.
Over time, God redeemed the fall - the very same thing He’s been doing since The Garden’s first fig leaf dropped.
PORTAL TO HEAVEN: Redemption in its many forms is the great plot twist of a great God.
He provided redemption for his people; he ordained his covenant forever— holy and awesome is his name. Psalm 111:9 NIV
