Pool Profundity

When you own a pool, it’s for everyone else. Right?

The former owner of our pool splashed a little common sense on me on this very subject that led to a profound portal to heaven.

“When you’ve been working real hard,” he said, “you might enjoy taking a break and jumping in - especially on a hot day.”

He didn’t say, “Have a lot of pool parties” or “Invite the fam and all of your friends.”

In my mind, our pool was too large for just me. I felt guilty and selfish just thinking about swimming alone.

But then it happened. When no one was around, I would take advantage of moments alone by turning on the bluetooth-speaker and listening to a podcast or really loud worship songs or by just enjoying a quiet swim. Backstroking and looking up at the puffy clouds or the tulip tree in bloom or the tall pines, I began to understand that blessings are not exclusively reserved for larger parties or in giving something to others.

Receiving can get very personal.

Pools are a great refresher-course in learning about the benevolence of God. When I was in the water receiving so much of His love and beauty, I was able to swim in the deep-end of His giving nature.

PORTAL TO HEAVEN: Receiving from God comes in so many forms and you can be assured He’ll meet you where you’re in a position to accept blessings - even if He has to sneak up on you and push in a pool.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change…The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. James 1:17 ESV, Numbers 6:24 ESV
