Eeking Out A Living

ABOVE: Many still have it rough in eeking out "their daily bread."

In Western society, many of us have gotten off easy when it comes to working in the winter.

Throughout history, it hasn’t always been that way.

As I sit comfortably warm in front of my computer typing these words, I look out my window to the now-frozen historic Hudson River where blocks of that same ice wereharvested by men in the midst of freezing conditions just over one hundred years ago.

And many still work with ice such as those using snowplows at 3 a.m., the trooper on The New York State Thruway who stops to help a driver after a late-night icy highway mishap, the power company man in an icy trench trying to restore utilities, the guy on the tarmac de-icing your plane and even the urban youth carrying around their snow shovels who may end up doing that long after their youth ends.

PORTAL TO HEAVEN: Winter means different things to all of us. It might behoove us to see God in each of these servants. Sacrifice and service should always be a portal of The Servant.the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many… he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being.

Matthew 20:28 NIV, Philippians 2:7 NLT
